On a par with Paddenstolen's quality of artwork, Verkade's 1930 offering entitled "Zeewateraquarium en Terrarium" (Seawater Aquarium and Terrarium) boasts perhaps the most strikingly colourful cover of all the company's albums.

For the next two years the company adopted a Botanical theme with the albums "Cactussen" (Cacti) and "Vetplanten" (Succulents) - the cards from both albums being quite easy to find.

After a one-year gap, Verkade returned to the countryside with an emphasis on the animals, birds, insects and plants to he found there. "De Bloemen en Haar Vrienden" (The Flowers and their Friends) was the first in this thematic sequence and was followed by "Hans de Torenkraai" (Hans the Crow) which offered a birds-eye view of wildlife in the Dutch countryside.
