Verkade Bon Tokens

[Card Mine Home Page] [Verkade Main Page] [Index of Verkade Albums]

Whilst the preceeding pages have covered all the albums produced by Verkade, they do not tell the whole story. Many collectors specialise in other printed (and collectable) material and, in common with many Cigarette Manufacturers and other companies, Verkade placed coupons (made of thin or even transparent paper) in the packaging of their products which could be exchanged for their albums and cards.

These "Bon" (Token) cards were produced from the mid-Twenties through to the Second World War and, as time passed, the "cards" became more sophisticated. They were, originally, simple advertising slips for the current album (or albums) against which they could be redeemed. However, by the late 1930s they had evolved into black & white or blue & white versions of the actual cards which were to be collected for the album. As such, they could be collected as a set in just the same way that the actual cards were.
